Congratulations to Jess Ness!

Voices of Deakin would like to congratulate Jess Ness on her result in the recent federal election.

Achieving over 7% of the primary vote is an exceptional first-time result, particularly with such a short lead-time to build her profile and connect with the residents across Deakin.

This campaign was never just about winning an election. It was about hope, the appetite for change, and the chance to ignite a movement – a movement grounded in community, integrity, and the unwavering belief that politics can and should be done differently.

Although the campaign had Jess' face and name, it was, above all else, a community movement. Despair was turned into possibility, apathy into action, and strangers into friends. We've shown that democracy isn't just about casting a vote – it's about engaging, listening, and building together.

Voices of Deakin is currently assessing next steps and we will be in touch with our subscribers in due course. If you'd like to be kept up to date, please subscribe below.

Voices of Deakin is a community group, not a political party. With a community independent now confirmed for Deakin, it is now in hiatus until after the 2025 election. Our survey remains open for those who wish to complete it.

We recognise their enduring, continued connection to land, sea, sky and community, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to the courage, wisdom and resilience of Elders past, present and emerging.
