Become a member!
If you have a desire to work with the Steering Committee to build community connection and engagement, make politics more accessible to our broader community, and/or aspire to have a genuine independent candidate for Deakin, consider becoming a member.
Members are typically more deeply involved in Voices of Deakin and play a key role in supporting the Steering Committee through input on the strategy and direction of the group, and collaborating to implement the group's work. They have the interest, capacity and availability to commit to contributing reasonably regularly, but with the flexibility to scale their involvement up and down as appropriate to their personal circumstance.

Conditions of membership
Members:

Will ideally be residents of Deakin, but exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Are expected to read, accept and adhere to the Voices of Deakin Code of Conduct (Code) below.

Are asked to commit to attend at least two of the quarterly joint Committee/Membership meetings each year.

Are required to pay a small annual fee of an amount of their choosing (recommended fee is $20). The fee is payable in July of each year, and if you join in May or June, your fee will cover the cost of the following 12 months. More information available in the ToR.
We regret that as Voices of Deakin is working towards a democratic model beyond Australia’s two-party preferred system, if you are a member of a political party, you must resign from the party before you can join Voices of Deakin.
